Great Virtues of Ayatul Kursi

Ayatul kursi is the verse of Quran, which starts with the word ALLAH and continues with, enlightens His attributes. Allah is the one and the only lord, He is the creator and He is the one who has the power to vanish all what He created. In Ayatul Kursi Allah explains that He is the one Who neither slumber nor He sleeps because everything, which is in heaven and on earth completely belongs to Him. He has the power who should be forgiven and who not. Allah knows everything which is past, present and future not only for humanity point of view but also for the whole universe.

Ayatul Kursi is one of the greatest verses of Quran al Kareem due to some reasons. Ayatul Kursi is the only Ayah of Quran which contains word Allah most. The count of word Allah is seventeen in a single verses, also known as verse of Throne. Ayatul Kursi is named after word Kursi which means the position of Allah’s feet. Ayatul Kursi mentioned six attributes of Allah, which are, the Divine Oneness (Wahdaniyyah) of Allah Most High, His Life (Hayah), His Knowledge (Ilm), His Kingdom (Mulk), His Divine Power (Qudrah) and His Will (Iradah). Ayatul Kursi has number of benefits for the one who recites.

Note: To know proper recitation of Ayatul Kursi and to understand it word by word you can use an application developed by QuranReading.com named Learn Ayatul Kursi.

Recite it after every prayer
Abu Umamah R.A reported that The Prophet (saw) said,
"For whoever recites the Verse of the Throne, Ayatul Kursi (Quran 2:255) at the end of every prayer, nothing will prevent him from entering Paradise except that (he must) die (first)."
The hadith puts light on the importance of Ayatul Kursi recitation after every prayer. Dua is an important part of prayers, and for dua we should have faith in Allah that he in the one who will listen to us. In Ayatul Kursi Allah said that He knows very well who should be forgiven and who not. If the forgiveness is desirable then there will be no chance that Allah will not listen to us.

Protection from shaitan and relief from depression
Hazrat Abu Hurairah (RA) narrates this Hadith from Prophet (saw), with the addition that
"Whosoever recites it in a house wherein Shaitaan is, he (Shaitaan) will leave."
Shaitan is the one who brings evil perceptions, which results depression and lack of interest in whatever job the person is doing. Ayatul Kursi gives human the concept not to worry about anything because Allah loves His creatures and will not left them alone.

Barkat in food
Hadhrat Ayesha (R.A.) narrates that, one person came to Nabi (Sallallahu alayhi wasallam) and said that there was absolutely no "Barakat" (blessings) in the things at home. Nabi (Sallallahu alayhi wasallam) replied,  "Why are you neglectful of Ayatul Kursi."

Among other benefits Ayatul Kursi has great benefits for those who so ever recites it on food for barkat. As Allah says that He is the one who is the owner of heaven and earth, and have power to grant anything to anyone against their prayers.

How to Deal with Stress and Anxiety – An Islamic Perspective

There is no denying the fact that the lives of people of this generation are not the same as people of the previous or the generations before them. The one element that is present in the life of every person of this generation is stress. All of us are stressed in one way or another about one thing or another. Therefore, the one cure or treatment, which people seek the most at present, is for their stress and tension.

People have all sorts of problems that give them stress, for some it is money, education, career, health and for others simply getting by in life is a matter of stress. Muslims are also a part of this world and they have the same needs as well, therefore, it is quite natural that a Muslim might also get stressed over different matters. However, the edge a Muslim has pertaining to stress is the fact that in Islam there is great solace and peace that helps in avoiding and getting relief from stress. The lines below discuss some major guidelines, which a Muslim must follow pertaining to dealing with anxiety and stress.

Supplicate:

The first thing that a Muslim must do pertaining to stressful situations is supplicate in front of Allah Almighty. We get stressed when we want to control everything and when that thing does not remain under our control the result is stress. Therefore, a Muslim with the belief that Allah Almighty controls everything can successfully avoid stress as supplicating to Him results in help from Him thus relief from stress. Ergo, praying to Allah Almighty and supplicating for His assistance means a person relying on Him for help and assistance, thus, the burden of stress gets relieved from the heart and mind of a Muslim.

To learn number of supplications and to add them in your daily lives, you can use different Islamic applications available, few that I can recommend are MuslimDua Series and Kids Dua Now. The two beautiful applications to learn and teach Islamic duas to your kids in an effective manner.

Do What Is In Your Power:

Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said in one of His hadiths to a Bedouin when He saw him leaving his camel without tying it:
“Why don’t you tie down your camel?”The Bedouin replied:
“I put my trust in Allah.”

Prophet (PBUH) replied:“Tie your camel first, then put your trust in Allah.” (Tirmidhi)
From this hadith it is clear that leaving everything on Allah Almighty and expecting Him to do each and everything without you making the slightest effort towards making the life better or getting out of a problem is not the right ploy. Rather, a Muslim is encouraged to first do the required and possible effort and then put the trust in Allah that He will assist in times of difficulty and calamities. So, the solution to stress is neither full reliance on Allah Almighty, nor is it trying to everything in control by yourself, rather, you need to make effort and then put your trust in Allah and He surely will come to your help.

Understand Your Limitations:

The other thing that can help a Muslim in fighting stress is the understanding of human limitations. Being a Muslim one has the belief that there is an Authority that is above all and that has everything in power and humans are merely His subjects who can do very little. This understanding of human constraints and limitations makes the belief of a person strong and makes him or her put trust in Allah Almighty. When a person realizes that he or she cant control every thing in life, then they turn towards the One who knows and controls all, the help from Whom results in solace and relief from difficulty and adversity. Therefore, instead of trying to take everything in control, a Muslim must understand that he or she is merely human and it is Allah who can provide relief and serenity.

Pray:

Perhaps the best shield that a Muslim has pertaining to fighting stress is the regular prayer. A Muslim prays to Allah Almighty five times a day. The prayer signifies worship, as well as submission to the will of Allah Almighty, moreover, prayer also gives a Muslim chance to be close to Allah and present to Him their problems. Hence, when a Muslim prays five times a day by keeping the worldly problems aside, he or she is actually asking assistance from Allah Almighty, that He may bless them, make their life easier, and solve their problems.

To Allah’s assistance in every step of life is an act of obedience and the best way of showing that is through word of obedience, Dua-e-Qunoot that we recite daily in our Witr Prayers.

Note: To Learn proper recitation of Quranic Surahs you can also join QuranTutor.com an online tutoring academy.

Seek Patience:

One of the major reasons why people are so prone to stress and anxiety is the fact that people of today have grown impatient. We want each and every thing to be done the way we want done and the time we want it done, therefore, when things don’t go the way we like them or there comes some sort of problem, we don’t tolerate it and get it on our nerves. Therefore, being impatient leads to us making things hard for ourselves and enter into the malice of anxiety and stress. Hence, a Muslim is to remember that patience is one of the major Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and one of the greatest teachings of Islam. Therefore, in the times when things don’t go as our planning, then a Muslim must resort in patience as a means of getting through the tough situations and remain hopeful for His blessing and help.

Bottom Line:

In a nutshell, stress is one of the major elements that exists in life and the power or control over it results in a person achieving happiness or otherwise. Therefore, it is imperative that a Muslim seeks guidance and assistance from Allah Almighty when facing tough situations and adversity.

Surah Asr an Open Book During Exam

Asr, the Declining Day, is 103rd and second shortest Surah of Quran after Surah Kauthar. It is completely a Meccan Surah that was revealed on Prophet Muhammad PBUH during His early stay in Mecca. It was the time when people were in great darkness and Islam was presented with brief but highly impressive sentences, which automatically committed to the memory. The particular Quran Suarh contains three verses, in which Allah says, all the mankind is in loss except for those who do righteous deeds and teach other about truth and patience.

By time. Indeed, mankind is in loss. Except for those who have believed and done righteous deeds and advised each other to truth and advised each other to patience.
The word time is used for what is past and what will be future as well as what is passing. The present becomes past and the future becomes present that repeats itself again and again. This world is an examination hall and we all are here to solve our paper in limited time. We mostly listen that the time is money, which is indeed a reality Imam Razi explained the concept of Surah Asar relating with an ice-seller, He said
“I understood the meaning of Surah Al-`Asr from an ice-seller, who was calling aloud for the attention of the people repeatedly in the bazaar: 'Have mercy on the one whose wealth is melting away !' Hearing what he was crying I said to myself: this then is the meaning of Wal- asr-i innal-insana la-fi khusr-in. The age-limit that man has been allotted is passing quickly”
like the melting away of ice. The time is running with speed and we need to do our best within that period. Imam Shafi explained it perfectly that
“if the people only considered this Surah well, it alone would suffice them for their guidance.”
Now, let us consider some qualities explained in Surah on which success of man depends.

The first quality of a secure person is to have proper Iman the Faith on Allah, on His prophets, His books and the Day of Judgment. To have belief on all of them by heart is not the only requirement but to represent them in your actions is also necessary. There are numerous sources are out there for proper guidance about Islamic beliefs we only need to approach them on right time.

The  second essential quality for good result is to perform good deeds. All such deeds, which are acceptable with the guideline provided to us by our  Lord. Offer salat, pay zakat, perform Hajj if you can afford and many other good deeds that make you practical Muslim.

The third and fourth qualities of a secure person are, they advice each other about truth and patience. These are the great qualities in itself, if we start to say truth and be with them who say truth without worrying about quantity makes you a perfect Muslim. During our stay on earth we go through different hurdles that are to test our faith, we don’t take it positively rather make it bad for us and start to complain. This is time when we should show what we are and whom we are following.

May Allah bless us all with great strength and power to secure good results and fulfill all the requirements being a good human being and practical Muslim.

Different Calendars for Different Communities

The time is changing rapidly so is the technology, now we have numerous tools for the same purpose and each better then the other. There was a time, when people depend on movements of sun and moon  in order to know about date and days of a month.

Then, the advancement in technology introduces the method to record data for further use and now different app stores have numerous applications for the same purpose. Islamic calendar by Quran Reading is one of the apps featuring two different calendars includes Hijri and Gregorian followed by different communities. You can get this beautiful application using the links below:

The post now will continue with details about different calendars being followed by different communities throughout the world. There are three different types of calendars includes, Solar, Lunar and LuniSolar designed for particular purposes on different times. Although people find it convenient to go with Solar the Gregorian calendar but still there are number of places and people who are followers of other two versions. Below are the details about calendars and their followers.

Solar Calendar / Gregorian Calendar

The most followed calendar of the world as explained before. It completely based upon the relationship between a sun and a earth. Sun completes one circle around the earth in 365.242 days include 365 days 5 hours 48 minutes and 46 seconds. It accumulate 4 times makes 1 day after 4 years added in a month of February. Europe or people from the west originate this calendar as they give importance to day time because of their Mediterranean climate,  they can’t produce enough food from agriculture so they need to need to hunt animals or find nature resources outside.

Lunar Calendar / Islamic Calendar

The second most used calendar after solar. It completely based upon different phases of moon and moon circle around earth. Lunar calendar is ten day less then the previous one because moon completes its one circle around earth in 355-356 days, contains 12 months of 29 to 30 days each. Islam gave great significance to worship in nights because of which Muslims select Lunar movement for their calendar. It is most followed by Arab countries and Muslims around the world in order to know important religious dates and different Islamic events.

                                                     Lunisolar Calendar

As the name shows it is a combination of lunar and solar therefore it also to place importance on solar one. After every 3rd year lunisolar calendar adds 30 days to it that make it equals t to solar calendar. China has many inherited conditions to develop abundant agricultural economy, so they gave importance to sun for daily life, at the same time, they have proper routines for rain and planting that is feasible for the moon circulation, so they took both.

Important Factors to Beautify Your Supplications

Dua is defined as an invocation or prayer addressed to Allah SWT by the Muslims. Supplicating to Allah has the power to change fate, which is not possible from any of our other actions. Supplications are the essence of Ibadah or worship, with it we can never be failing and without it success is hard. Dua should be the first and the last resort for the Muslims and all his plans coming in between, prayers are the conversation with Allah, Our Creator, Our Lord and Master.

In the Qur'an, Allah says:

"When My servants ask about Me, I am indeed close to them.  I listen to the prayer of every supplicant, when he calls on Me.  Let them also, with a will, listen to My call, and believe in Me, so that they may walk in the right way" (Qur'an 2:186).
Aside from daily five prayers, Muslims are recommended to make duas from their Lord Allah, even for small things. This is one of the deeds that Allah likes the most.  Throughout our daily routines number of event comes, when we should say dua, but due to lack of Islamic duas we miss the chance of pleasing our Lord and to request Him for His great blessings upon us. Muslim Dua Series is one of the ways to get familiar with Islamic Duas in an efficient manner. This is a free to use mobile application with number of great features. You can have this app either you are Android or iPhone user.

The post continues with some of the essential factors we should consider while making duas to beautify them.
  1. Try to have Wudu throughout a day it will gives you a feel of purification and you will try to avoid to be a part of bad things.
  2. Start making duas with the name of Allah; recite some The Quranic verses depicting Allah’s power and His blessings or you can also recite some or all beautiful names of Allah also known as Asma-ul-Husna.
  3.  Continue your dua with Darood-e-Ibareem as its recitation in the beginning and the end works as an envelope and a seal respectively.
  4. Show modesty, appeal, desire and fear while making Dua.
  5. Confess your mistakes, sins and ask Allah by your good deeds.
  6. Show your need of Allah’s help and implore Him for release from weakness, and sufferings or things you want.
  7. Make dua with the feel that it will be granted and end it with Darood.
There are some special times when Duas are more likely to be accepted, so we should try to make Duas at that time in every condition i.e. between the time of Adhan and Iqama, when it is raining, while traveling, In Sajood, On day of Arafa, while drinking Zam-Zam water from well, During Lila-tul-Qadar in Ramadan, on Friday and many more. Allah always gives us a chance to change ourselves and turn towards Allah. May Allah keep guiding us and leads us towards righteous path.

Importance of Making Dua

“O mankind, you are those in need of Allah, while Allah is the Free of need, the Praise worthy.”Quran (35: 15)
The above verse is a great description about Dua, whom to pray and why to pray? The verse states that, Human Beings are always in a need of number of things for, which they asked Allah Almighty, Who is free from all the worldly needs.

In ancient times, humans were least materialistic and more religious, but the advancements in technology has reversed the fact. Now people are relying more on technology than taking help of the divine power i.e. the Almighty Allah. Through you may ask people or technology around, to help you get things done, but one cannot simply defy the faith required to pray to Allah. If you do not pray to Him, and His favor does not turn your way, every other effort would go in vain. Mostly we see in tough times when we caught in some trouble, we first pick up our phone and started to request others to help us, rather moving directly towards Allah as He is The Only Power. He can help us without imposing any terms and conditions, in regard, and will never make us to feel bad in-front of others as humans do. Similarly, in good times we forget to thank Allah for whatever He grants us, comparatively we thank number of other people whom we consider a reason for our happiness. As stated before we are in need not Allah Almighty, we just need to make Him a call, He always ready to respond in return.

The number of blessings, which Allah grants to us, are like stars means uncountable. It is His blessing that at this moment your heart is beating, you are blinking eyes while reading, the air is around you for breathing and so on. Just imagine if only one of these blessing taken away from you what will be your reaction. Have you ever thanked Him for all these blessings?

“And He gave you from all you asked of Him. And if you should count the favor of Allah, you could not enumerate them. Indeed, mankind is [generally] most unjust and ungrateful.” Surah Ibrahim (14:34)
Dua is a powerful means of requesting Allah, as The Prophet Muhammad PBUH said in Trimithi, ‘Dua is worship’ and further specified that ‘The most excellent worship is Dua’.  Dua is such a beneficial and beautiful thing in the sense that, it always comes in our favor either they are granted or not. If our request is fulfilled we will get benefit through it in this universe and if they are not, their reward will be granted on the Day of Judgment. There is no doubt in it that every Muslim wants to be saved from Hell-fire and the wrath of their Lord, so make Dua, as Allah (SWT) says,

“And your Lord says, "Call upon Me; I will respond to you." Indeed, those who disdain My worship will enter Hell [rendered] contemptible.” Surah Gafir (40:60)

The Prophet Muhammad PBUH said, “If one does not ask Allah, He (Allah) will get angry with him.” (Tirmithi). There is never too late, if you realize your problem, just need to take some step towards a beautiful new journey. Let us start our journey through daily Islamic prayers. Knowledge on religious topics is more controversial as you always don’t aware of the person writing on a particular topic with what believes or thoughts. Adults might not be trapped in such situations but child do. They start to follow what so ever they read on internet without concerning with parents.

The above few lines don’t mean everything on internet is false or ambiguous. There might be number of sources, which do have some good and authentic content, but we need to dig them out of a huge data. From number of resources, one can be different Islamic apps. The reasons because of what we consider Islamic apps authentic are as following; Application building is not an overnight task, a team of Software engineers gather and by following a software development model they reach to different result, which are published on stores after a huge proofing. Another reason can be the authenticity of the developer, means the organization who owns different applications. QuranReading.com is one of the founders of Islamic apps and they keep on improving their apps as per their user requirements.  So if you find some of their applications you can trust them a bit or you can check their app responses through reviews.

Islamic Duas and Rain – Great Blessings of Allah

Water is certainly one the most significant elements for the stability of life on earth. It is one of the elementary factors for the continuation of activities in a region. Water carries great importance for all creations including Human beings, animals and plants. The main source of water especially in deserts is Rain, where people waits longer and prays for its happening.  The Holy Quran contains various verses in regarding rain significance, where considerable information is given about the formation of rain, its quantity and effects.

“And He who sends down (from time to time) water from the sky in due measure, and We raise to life therewith a land that is dead. Even so will you be raised (from the dead).” (Surah Zukhruf, 11)

The verse above explains shortly about rains, that emphasis on due measure of water. This means Allah always send water from the sky when required and in enough amounts, which is sufficient for His creations needs. Duas are the best ways of thanking Allah for His great blessings upon us. There are number of sources to get knowledge about duas regarding rain one of them can be Muslim Dua Series. The details about application are given at the end of post.

Formation of Rain

The creation of rain took place in three different stages. First, the “raw material” of water rises up into the air known as method of evaporations. Then it continues with the formation of clouds and finally, conversion into rain drops occur. These are the stages also explained in Quran along with precise information about rain formation.

“It is Allah, who sends the winds, and they stir the clouds and spread them in the sky however He wills, and He makes them fragments so you see the rain emerge from within them. And when He causes it to fall upon whom He wills of His servants, immediately they rejoice.” (Surah Ar-Rum – 48)

Now, let us have a look at three stages mentioned in the verse above;

Evaporation Method: "It is Allah, Who sends the winds...”

As we know wind speed helps a lot in method of evaporations. More the wind power the more water will be evaporated. Number of air bubbles produced by the foaming in the rivers and oceans, rupture continuously and causes water particles to repel towards the sky. These particles are enriching with salt, which carried away by winds and move upwards in the atmosphere. These particles are known as aerosols that gather vapors around and form clouds.

Formation of Clouds: " …and they stir the clouds and spread them in the sky however He wills, and He makes them fragments… "

The clouds form by water vapors that are condensing around the salt crystals and dust particles in the air. As amount of water drops are very small, this causes them to spread over the sky in the form of clouds.

Falling of Rain Drops: “…so you see the rain emerge from within them”

Water particles containing salt crystals and dust particles become thicker and form rain drops. This process makes these drops heavier than air, and departs them from the clouds causes’ rain on the earth.

Duas for Rain
To see the true need of rain, just look at the old man lives in a desert and have no water for their camels. He rush here and there in search of water, which all vain due to lack of water resources. The only way of getting water is rain now, he request Allah as;

“O Allah, provide water for Your slaves and Your cattle, spread out Your mercy and resurrect Your dead land.” (Abu Dawud No# 1176 )

When it rains, it become the most happening day for that old man, when he has enough water for his animals but also he can store it for other few days without paying any penny. When rain occur we should say this dua

“O Allah, (bring) beneficial rain clouds.”

This verse also indicating about beneficial clouds means the clouds, which become the reason of construction rather than destructions in the form of storms. Means rain is not beneficial only for people living in deserts but also for other areas. As stated earlier water is the source of life and many of our forests are depending on rains for their existence, which prevents earth soil from cuttings.
Resistance between clouds cause thunder and make most of us scare with their voice. Islam emphasis on making dua and dua for thunder is
“Glory is to Him, Whom thunder and angels glorify due to fear of Him.”

This is in human beings, when we need something we do request a lot and try to make the person happy. Similarly, we did with our Lord. We do make number of duas and when they granted we forget to thank for what He bless us. We should also say duas as a regard when rain over’s and we enjoy it a lot. Dua after rain is

“We have been given rain by the grace and mercy of Allah”

May Allah always grant us with beneficial clouds and make environment neat and clean. Let continue with Muslim Dua Series an app we discussed before

Importance of Congregational Prayers

As we all know Prayer is the second pillar of Islam. It has greater religious values for Muslims not only in life but also after death. Allah and His Prophet Muhammad PBUH put great emphasis on offering prayers, either individual prayers or congregation Prayers. As prophet Muhammad PBUH said, the whole earth is a mosque for you, so pray wherever you are when time of prayer comes.

Now question is why reward for congregational prayers is 25 to 27 times more than individual prayers, when there is no restriction in our religion for place. The answer is simple and clear. Allah loves when His creation put their efforts in doing something good or religious.

Congregational Prayers

These are the prayers performed by a group of people behind Imam in mosques. He is someone who has proper knowledge about Quran, Hadiths and has good repute in society. All the people stand behind Imam in parallel rows facing Qibla. Prayer in congregation is considered to have more social and spiritual benefits then praying individual. As Islam is the name of brother-hood, and these prayers gave us a chance to meet different people. During such meetings we come to know different problems of other and can join hands to help them.  These prayers are also symbol of Unity and power against non-Muslims, this is the reason because of which Muslims recommended to offer daily prayers in their near mosques but for Juma prayers gather at central mosques at same place. The biggest congregation represented at the time of Hajj. When there become no different either by wealth or belongings.

Etiquettes for Congregational Prayers
As every religious prayer does have some rules to follow similarly congregational prayers also have some rules to follow.
  1. The very first thing is to be punctual for your prayers; means start preparation before 5 to 10 minutes. It will help you to reach mosque on time and you will find proper place behind Imam.
  2.  Do not eat anything, which make you mouth smelly. Like it is recommended not to eat onion or garlic etc… but if you eat it must brush your teeth.
  3. Take bath if required.
  4.  Do carry well pressed beautiful, neat and clean clothes along with saying dua for changing clothes.
  5.  Try to perform wuzu from home.
  6.  When reached mosque say dua to enter in the mosque and try to switch off your cell phone or at-least put it on silent mood.
  7.  If you are late and mosque is full then don’t try to hurt other in trying to reach in the front rows. As this is the worst thing you can do and this also is something not liked by our Prophet Muhammad PBUH.
  8.  If you are on time and there is a time for Salah. Do meet other people present in the mosques and have some religious conversation.
  9.  While congregation, take proper place and don’t create problems for others to perform their salah.
  10. After Salah if you have time meet Imam and do discuss some of your religious issues. As He can guide you better in the light of Quran and Sunah.
  11.   While leaving must say dua to leave mosque.
This is a brief description about congregation prayers and their etiquettes. To get knowledge about duas regarding daily prayers, do visit different app store as they contains millions of great Islamic apps, waiting for someone to download them and get benefits. One of the great app is Muslim Dua Series, it contains duas related to at-most major events of a day. The best thing about this application is, it is free to use without compromising on quality. 6 Kalmas of Islam – A Complete Message for Muslims

6 Kalmas of Islam, being preserved in many Islamic books and memorize by millions of Muslims across the world that has great significance in Islam. Kalma is an assembly of few words that is the recognition of a Muslim. Kalma is the basic principle that connects a person to Islamic spirit.

First Kalma – Kalma Tayyiba
The word Tayyiba means purity from evil spirits. By saying Kalma Tayyiba, a person nullifies all false gods and declares that Allah is The Only Lord, the creator of everything around us including Heaven, Hell and Prophet Muhammad PBUH is the messenger of Allah.  Kalma is not only declaration but it is also the acceptance of fact that Allah is the one without any companion; He has neither parents nor children.
