Kalmas of Islam, being preserved in many Islamic books and memorize by millions
of Muslims across the world that has great significance in Islam. Kalma is an
assembly of few words that is the recognition of a Muslim. Kalma is the basic
principle that connects a person to Islamic spirit.
First Kalma – Kalma Tayyiba
The
word Tayyiba means purity from evil spirits. By saying Kalma Tayyiba, a person
nullifies all false gods and declares that Allah is The Only Lord, the creator
of everything around us including Heaven, Hell and Prophet Muhammad PBUH is the
messenger of Allah. Kalma is not only
declaration but it is also the acceptance of fact that Allah is the one without
any companion; He has neither parents nor children. La-ilaha-ill-allah,
Muhammad-ur-Rasulullah is also to believe on Allah with all His names, which depict
His countless attributes.
Second Kalma – Kalma Shahdaat
The
word Shahdaat means testimony or Witness, evidence of what we said in Kalma
Tayyiba. In Kalma Tayyiba we accept the truth of Allah and then search for Him
around us and start becoming a witness of His attributes. We see deep oceans
and High Mountains and recall that Allah is Qadir means has all the powers. When we become in troubles and find
no one to help us and call Allah and get some guidance then we call Allah with
name Ar-Rashid means the righteous
teacher.
Third Kalma – Kalma Tamjeed
The
word Tamjeed means Glorification. After getting number of evidences around us
we again repeat the fact that Allah is The Greatest with All Praise and there
is no Might or Power except Allah. He gave life and also death and we cannot do
anything against His will. Whatever is on earth and in the sky, He controls everything.
Fourth Kalma – Kalma Tauheed
The
word Tauheed means unity. This Kalma is a unity of all previous believes, summarization
of all attributes of Allah in a single sentence. In this short phrase we accept
Allah with all His names. We also accept that there is no one worthy for
worship and Praise except Allah. Furthermore we also accept that He is owner of
life and death and He has to last forever with all His powers.
Fifth Kalma – Kalma Ishtaghfar
The
word Ishtaghfar means forgiveness, penitence from all the sins which we commit either
by will or unknowingly, secretly or openly. All we know that Allah loves His
creations seven times more than a mother. This is to believe that, if you commit
some sin and then if we ask for forgiveness, He will listen to us, as this is
His attribute that He is forgiver.
Sixth- Kalma – Kalma Rud-e-Kufr
The
word Rud-e-Kufr means rejecting the Disbelief. This is to accept that there is
no protection except Allah, along with believing that He has no partner. Also
ask for forgiveness, O’ Allah if ever I associate someone with you I seek your
protection and forgive me for my action. I repented from it and I made myself
free from all such associations. Also forgive me for all my falsehood, back-biting
and all other bad deeds I have done knowingly or unknowingly. All the praise
are for you and no one is worthy for worship accept you.
